With 27 years of experience working with children, Shawn Short founded the Denmark Before and After School Program in the fall of 2009 in collaboration with the School District of Denmark. Her passion for creating a nurturing, enriching environment for kids drives everything we do.

Shawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology as well as an Administrative Credential (18-credit program) and a School Age Credential (12-credit program) — bringing both formal education and hands-on expertise to her leadership of BASP.

Outside of work, Shawn is a proud mom of two college-age sons, Zane and Donavan. Her family loves traveling, basketball, football, and “just being goofy” — a spirit she brings into the program every day.
